A Historical Glance at Mt. Horeb Primitive Baptist Church
The church was first started in a little prayer house by a family of relatives in 1918, the first Sunday in July. The little church was called the Prayer House. It was located just beyond Long Pond and Haley Pond on Beltmore Plantation. This Prayer House was later organized into a church and named Mt. Horeb Primitive Baptist Church. It was organized by the late Deacon W.H. Rush, Lucinda Rush, Florence Rush, George Rush, Antwon Rush, Lou Knight, and Molly Hicks. The first members to be baptized in the church were Floyd Rush, James Harris, and Emma Campbell.
